So, We left Zug, one of the tablers, the one with the American accent, recommended a nice touristroad on the other side of the lake. We thought that would be a nice road to drive. Said and done, we went on the other side of the lake, but believe it or not, we ended up on the darn' highway anyway never mind, let's go to Italy and Ferrara. It is clearly a difference between Italy, and Suisse, thats for sure, not just the bump when crossing the border. Things are a bit laid back in Italy compared to Swiss "clockwork-Ordnung".
We went south along the "Autoztrade di smoggi della industria mucho pollutioni" on our way to Milano. We stopped at a taverna for a snack and some lunch, sweet Jesus what a place! We had to pay in one place collect the food at another spot, all orchestrated to the sound of Italians throwing their hands in the air, shouting and smoking, they were all over the place It's stressing for scandinavians, lost in the Italian Antstack, Oh Ye sweet calm forrests of home, Oh Ye milde silent pines
Anyway, we went onwards to Bologna, somewere outside on the Autostrade we were supposed to turn north for the rendez-vous with Rodolfo outside Ferrara. We did some strategic miscalculations and ended up almost in San Marino.
Sh** what to do, time was running out and we really needed to get to Ferrara. So we hit the countryside of northern Italy, this is nothing we recommend. The Italians seemes to navigate their roads throu experience, not by signs. We entered several crossings with no signs at all leading us to Ferrara. We've seen places like Argenta, sleepy small Italian villages. Not for beginners, thats for shure! Anyway, a bit late we found Our way to Ferrara, Rodolfo, a bit nervous and stressed ( nice to be able to stress an Italian! ) was waiting at a railway crossing.
Many hugs and a nice reunion thou! Nice to meet him again! We went to his place down town Ferrara. He lives right in the center of the old town, nice small flat, he had made his bedroom into our bedroom, sleeping on the couch was His destiny, One gets touched with all the things fellow tablers do for eachother. And make no mistake:Rodolfo is a Genuine Tabler. (I had a chat with im over the phone the other night, I were in Amsterdam on business, at a Italian restaurant, well why not call Rodolfo?! Nice chat, if I remember correctly :-) ).
Thanks a lot for hospitality, sightseeing and all the fun! |
